Hopeless Romantic for Work
A poem
Southern, Woman
Abused and Smothered
You can’t do this, you can’t do that
Blocked
Generation X, Millennial
Invisible and Undesirable
You don’t know how to do this, you don’t know how to do that
Blocked
Ill, Tired
Ill and Tired
I want to do this, I want to do that
Blocked
Employee, Employer
Unappreciated and Underpaid
You need to do this, you need to do that
Blocked
Old and tired
Expired and It’s too late
I should have done this, I should have done that
Blocked
Even if all of my wildest dreams came true
It’s too late, I’m too exhausted to enjoy them
Blocked and joyless
Yet, I still want work, to work
Hopeless Romantic for Work
